Famous church may be locked between Masses due to vandalism

A famous church in Co Kildare is only allowing supervised visits by members of the public after several recent cases of vandalism. St Brigid's Parish Church in Kildare town has been forced to call for volunteers to oversee visitors - otherwise authorities say the building will be locked. The unusual move comes after the Church was vandalised three times in the past week. A parish spokesperson said: "Our Church has been defiled three times in the past week. "We can open the Church only while somebody is present to watch and pray between the hours of 1pm and 3.30pm. "If [volunteers] can spare some of that time in the Church, then til wil lbe opened for parishioners. "Otherwise it will be locked."
