Gardai in Athy investigating two break-ins in the space of three hours on Friday

Gardai in Athy are investigating two separate burglaries in the space of a few hours in the Athy area on Friday evening last. The first of the two break-ins which occurred happened at a family home in the Bert area of Athy when a burglar made of with a quantity of cash. The owner of the house arrived home to discover that the house had been broken into and searched and that cash had been stolen. Gardai believe that the suspect gained entry to the house through a window and also used the same route to exit the house. The second break-in happened just a few miles down the road as a home in Moone was broken into between 6.10 pm and 7pm. The resident arrived home to find that somebody had gained entry through a window and searched threw various presses and cupboards but there was nothing actually taken. The house is in the Sheriff Hill area of Moone. Gardai in Athy are appealing to anyone who may have any information on either of the incidents to contact Athy Garda Station on 059 8631669.
