10 Dec 2015
Three men are in custody today following a huge drugs bust in Kildare last night. Gardai were operating from intelligence provided through advanced analytical methods that help disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.
At around 7.30pm yesterday evening, Kildare Gardai, assisted by the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, stopped two cars at Newlands Cross and carried out a search. An estimated €600,000 worth of heroin was seized and the three men, aged 22, 34 and 40 were arrested and brought to Clondalkin Garda Station.
A number of follow up searches were conducted in Kildare and Dublin which resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cannabis herb and cocaine. So far there has been an estimated €900,000 worth of drugs seized while the investigation is still ongoing according to Gardai.
At this time there is no indication as to whether or not the three men arrested were locals to the Kildare area and Gardai have yet to reveal where the raids took place, although it has been confirmed that Gardai from Newbridge were involved in the operation.
