Hit and run victim to cook Christmas dinner for 60
16 Dec 2015
A Co Kildare Cllr seriously injured in last night's hit and run had been planning a shopping list for the community Christmas party just hours before. Newbridge is devastated following revelations that Independent Cllr Willie Crowley is in a serious condition at Naas Hospital. Cllr Crowley is an integral part of a Christmas party, held for people who may be isolated, or not have family members. This year it is anticipated that 60 people will sit down for a Christmas dinner, at the FAS building. The dinner was to be cooked by Cllr Crowley. However, fellow organiser, Anne Crowe is adamant that the dinner will go ahead. She said: "Willie was talking to me yesterday, he had planned where everything was to be bought and was adamant that everything was to be sourced locally. I am absolutely devastated. He would still want this to go ahead, he cares about people." Every year, Cllr Crowley and his wife Claire have their house full of food, in preparation for the annual dinner, sponsored by the Lions Club. Anyone who wishes to volunteer can contact Damian Molyneaux on 087/ 2450881.
