Co Kildare businessman chases knife wielding raider away

A raider wielding a knife in a renowned Co Kildare bakery got more than he bargained for, when he was chased from the premises. The intruder entered  The Chocolate Box at The Square, Kilcock, on Wednesday last, at about 8.40p.m. He was holding a knife but was quickly chased away, without stealing anything,  by the owner, Noel O'Brien. Speaking to KildareNow, Mr O'Brien said: "He was holding a big knife, I confronted him. I told him to get out and ran after him. I am an old age pensioner,  I was not quick enough to catch him." The shop will be in Kilcock 20 years this March. There have been minor incidents of theft in the past but noone was ever threatened before with a knife. Gardai are following a definite line of inquiry.
