Man due in Naas District Court over hit-and-run that injured Cllr Willie Crowley

A 28 year old man is due before Naas District Court this morning to face charges in connection with an alleged hit and run incident in Newbridge on Tuesday night. The man was arrested in Newbridge last night by gardai investigating the collision in which Cllr Willie Crowley was seriously injured. The incident occurred on Eyre Street at the junction of John's Street at James St at around 8.40pm on Tuesday evening. The man had been detained at Newbridge Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Cllr Crowley (65) remains in a serious condition in Naas General Hospital. Newbridge Gardai had earlier issued an appeal for information on a silver 03 D Opel Signum estate car seen in the area of the collision. Independent Senator Shane Ross tweeted: "Our thoughts with Independent Alliance candidate councillor Willie Crowley."
