A man living on the border of Co Kildare and Co Meath is convinced that if he had not sourced a car insurance policy in Germany, he would have been forced to leave Ireland. Damien O'Kelly is living in Enfield and relies on his car for his job as a maintainer of fish tanks in Co Kildare and Meath. Zurich Germany is providing fully comprehensive insurance for €730 annually while every other insurance company in Ireland were quoting him €1,590. He drives a 2-litre, 2006 Subaru Forester. 34- year-old Mr O'Kelly is behind the organisation of a national protest against insurance hikes, on July 2, at Merrion Square. He said: "I would be looking at moving to Canada, if I had to pay  the full insurance that Ireland was quoting. This is a rip-off country."
