Family of Carbury man killed in house fire thank firemen for their efforts

The family of a man killed in a house fire in March have thanked gardai, firemen and ambulance crews who attended the blaze. Well-known horticulturalist Kieran Skelly (48), who owned K&M Nurseries in Carbury,  is survived by his wife Muriel and five children Lydia, Jerome, Bianca, Mckayla and Dylan and grandson Tadhg. The family home was destroyed in the incident and the Skellys had to live in temporary accommodation. Co Cavan native Kieran exhibited at the Bloom gardening festival in Dublin for the past decade and his family carried on the tradition this year in the Phoenix Park event. In an Acknowledgement, the family said today: "We express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped us in any way, to make our path in life that little bit easier since that tragic day." The family passed on their gratitude for all the assistance they received following the death and the during the weeks since. "We very much appreciate who called to us from far and near, those who attended the rosaries, sent Mass cards, letters of condolences or flowers and to the large numbers of people who attended the Funeral Mass." The family added: "Thanks to the firemen, ambulance crew and gardai who attended the fire at our home on the day."
