This Kildare property was by far the most expensive private residence sold in Ireland last year

Lyons Demense is a well-known property to many people all over Ireland, and the luxury estate was the most expensive private property sold in Ireland last year. With a sale price of €12.073 million, it fetched a far greater fee than the second most expensive property in the country, a Dublin home that was sold back in July to former Paddy Power boss Patrick Kennedy for €8.725 million. Lyons Demense was taken off the market on October 4 last year and the deal was listed on the Property Price Register after a sale was agreed for the 620 acre estate. The property was formally owned by billionaire businessman Tony Ryan who bought it back in 1996 for an outlay of £3.5 million and spent more than £80 million renovating the area around the large mansion. Lyons Demense reportedly has a value of around €80 million, but a family member is said to have purchased the property in a cut-price deal.
