Revenue issue warning to people waiting on tax refunds as latest scam email continues to circulate

Revenue

The Revenue Commission have advised the public that another scam email is going around at the moment that seeks to target people who may be waiting on tax refunds.

The email suggests for the recipient to download the service's new app, while they also seek personal information from customers so they can avail of their tax refund. The legitimacy of the email looks almost unquestionable as it carries all the logos of the usual Revenue site and is from the 'noreply@revenue.ie' address.

With thousands of people across the country still waiting on tax refunds from 2017, the people behind the scam are looking for easy targets who would be susceptible to such a hoax.

Revenue outlined how these emails are not coming from them, and that customers should not reply to them.
"The Revenue Commissioners never send emails or text messages requiring customers to send personal information via email, text or pop-up windows," read a statement from Revenue.
