Cars with 'For Sale' signs on roadside being seized by Gardai

Anybody who parks a car on a roadside with a For Sale sign and mobile number of the seller can be fined and have the vehicle impounded.

The offence is covered under the Roads Act 1993 and Gardai have recently seized vehicles under this legislation.

'For Sale' vehicles parked on roadsides are often seen as an obstruction and can distract passing motorists.

Under Section 71 of the Roads Act 1993, it’s an offence to park on a public road for the purposes of sale or advertising.
