Council refuse planning permission for the construction of 30 new homes in south Kildare

Kildare County Council last week refused to grant planning permission for the construction of 30 new homes in south Kildare. The plans were lodged by Masonbrook Holdings Ltd in December that detailed the construction of the new units in Castledermot, but the council turned down their request on February 21. The housing development was planned for the Barrack Road and would have come at a cost of just over €2.8 million. Included in the plans was a description of the types of houses, all of which were two-storey dwellings. 10 three-bed semi-detached houses were listed in the plans, along with one three bed terrace, 13 two-bed terrace, two three-bed side entry houses and four one-bed apartments. It is not clear as to why the application was turned down by the council, though it is not uncommon for such projects to be denied permission at the first request before the plans are updated to meet the council's demands.
