Storied south Kildare pub up for sale as premises offers the chance to create more memories

A well-known former pub in the centre of Athy is up for sale, with the storied premises looking for an injection of life having been closed for around 10 years now. Based on Leinster Street in the town centre, the location could not be any better for a pub/restaurant in the town, and the structure remains in good order since it was closed in the middle of the 00's. The alcohol licence for the premises was sold during the boom time, but the property still represents a great investment opportunity for anyone looking to establish a business in the centre of the town. While open, Bapty Maher's was a storied pub that was always a popular destination with American tourists, with locals describing it as a lively place for young and old to go to. The likes of Irish writer Brendan Behan and legendary horse trainer Paddy Prendergast were both said to have enjoyed a pint or two in the pub, while it was also a regular haunt of the rugby fraternity within the town in the 1970s.
