Attention horse lovers: Gardai hiring Groom for horses

An Garda Siochana is looking for a Groom to work with horses in its Mounted Unit. The full-time permanent position will be based in the Garda HQ in the Phoenix Park in Dublin. The salary ranges from €24,000 to €30,000. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of groom experience. The responsibility of a groomsperson includes yard and stable duties, exercising of horses, turning out horses into paddocks, adhering to feeding regimes, ordering food and other supplies, waste management, clipping and organising shoeing of mounts. Another vital side of the role includes administration of medicines and vaccinations and liaising with veterinary staff. The roster is on a 28 day basis 7am to 3.30pm and 11am to 7.30pm, working three Saturdays and two Sundays. The Annual Leave for this position is 22 working days a year. The successful candidate will be required to successfully clear Garda Vetting.
