Permission granted for 25,000 panel solar farm in Johnstownbridge

A large new solar farm will be built in the Johnstownbridge area after Kildare County Council gave planning permission for the project. The council granted permission to the request from Power Capital Renewable Energy for the development on lands which will consist of an extension to the solar PV farm granted permission comprising the construction of approximately 25,300  photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames within a site area of 11.50 hectares. Permission for associated ancillary development including four transformer stations, four auxiliary transformer stations, four inverters, and one CCTV security camera mounted on four-metre high pole, two-metre high perimeter security fencing and internal access tracks.
