Funeral arrangements announced for Kildare musician Liam O'Flynn

The funeral of legendary Uilleann pipes player Liam O'Flynn will take place in Kill on Friday morning. The Kill native passed away on Tuesday following a battle with illness. Liam, who was a member of the Planxty group and was well-known for performing alongside musicians Christy Moore, Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny, was born in 1945. He played the Uilleann pipes from an early age, becoming a master of his craft and earning a reputation as one of the best pipe players around. His body will be reposing at his home from 11am on Thursday morning until 9pm. His funeral service will be held at St Bigid's Church in Kill at 11am on Friday morning followed by Cremation at Newlands Cross Crematorium. Family flowers only have been requested.
