Naas Municipal District Councillors and Kildare North TDs will join a large attendance at a public meeting to discuss proposed routes for the Naas Inner Relief Road.Residents from several housing estates affected by Routes 1 and 2 will gather at the Osprey Hotel Ballroom, Naas, at 7.30 pm sharp on Monday. Kildare Co Council insisted that the Inner Relief Road will reduce current traffic congestion in Naas town centre as well along the Dublin Road and Blessington Road. Three possible route options were put forward to a public consultation and one of these will be selected in the coming weeks. However two of the routes run along the Racecourse Road which campaigners say will bring thousands of vehicles including HGVs past several residential areas. Large estates affected by Routes 1 and 2 will include Mountain View, Sunday's Well, The Paddocks, Elmwood, Woodlands, Kingsfurze, Kings Court, The Gallops and Racecourse Gate, as well as areas of Monread and Tipper Road. The organisers of Monday's meeting said: "The meeting will provide an ideal opportunity for the elected representatives to engage with and listen to the concerns and reservations of the electorate. "At present, a decision is awaited as to the preferred route for the Naas Inner Relief Road."
