REVEALED: Dunnes Stores opening supermarket and cafe in Naas - TD

Dunnes Stores are opening a supermarket and a cafe in the old Superquinn site in Naas, TD James Lawless confirmed. The Fianna Fail politician claimed the new premises could be open by Christmas. The news brings an end to the speculation over the high-profile location on North Main Street. In 2011, Superquinn closed its doors, leading to the loss of hundreds of jobs. The site has been empty since then sparking serious concerns for the future retail viability of Naas town centre. Mr Lawless said today on his Facebook account: "Good news for Naas - Dunnes are committed to developing their supermarket at the old SuperQuinn site on the Main Street." He added: "The Council have given full planning permission for a supermarket and street cafe and the plan is to have it open by Christmas."
