Kildare North Labour General Election Candidate Emmet Stagg has been informed by the Minister for Education that the Maynooth Education Campus - the largest school project in the state - should be ready for occupation before September 2020 The Maynooth Education Campus is the largest ever school building project undertaken in the State which will see two 1,000 pupil secondary schools and a Shared Sports Facility built on the Moyglare Road in Maynooth. The Minister has now advised Mr Stagg that the pre-qualification process for contractors has been completed and that Tender Documents are expected to issue to the shortlisted contractors in the next fortnight or so with a view to having a contractor on site in Quarter 2, 2019. The Minister further added that it is fully expected that the buildings will be available for occupation prior to September 2020. Mr Stagg stated that the Tenders originally were to be sought in December 2018. However he added that the fact that they will be invited within the next fortnight or so is to be welcomed as is the renewed commitment that the buildings will be available for occupation prior to September 2020. At present a contractor is already on site completing the external fabric of both school buildings. Mr Stagg stated that he would keep the pressure on the Minister for Education and Skills so "this most important Education Campus in Maynooth can be compleded."
