Monasterevin gets funding to regenerate town centre areas

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring has allocated €78k to regenerate areas of Monasterevin. The money will develop and bring to shovel ready stage a number of public realm interventions to regenerate the centre of Monasterevin around Market Square and Moore Abbey Gate, Moore Street/Main Street and Dublin Street. Fine Gael TD for Kildare South and Chairman of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party, Martin Heydon said the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund is a key component of Project Ireland 2040, which is the Government’s plan for balanced regional development across the country. He added: "This is Project Ireland 2040 delivering for rural Ireland with capital funding for projects that will make a real difference to people living in Monasterevin." Rural Regeneration and Development Fund The Rural Regeneration and Development Fund supports measures to rejuvenate communities, create employment and transform rural economies. The funding for Kildare is part of a national package of €62m announced on Thursday. Project Ireland 2040 places strong priority on strengthening rural economies and communities. It promotes balanced regional development and ensures that opportunity is shared across the whole country. The Rural Regeneration and Development Fund is a key component of Project Ireland 2040.
