Loud Russian cargo plane 'disturbing sleep' in north Kildare

The Russian-made Antonov AN-12 uses a westward flight path through the skies above the Celbridge and Maynooth areas when carrying cargo to Shannon Airport. A reader said: "People in North Kildare may have been disturbed late last night by a very loud aircraft noise - a heavy droning sound heard around midnight on Saturday last, which persisted for some time. "This was an overflight by a large cargo plane called the Antonov AN-12. "This is a plane built in the Soviet era, which has the distinction of being one of the noisiest aircraft in the world.
