Gardai in Naas have seized a car that was driven by an unaccompanied Learner driver. According to the Naas Roads Policing Unit, the motorist was on a Learner permit and they did not display any 'L'plates and the learner driver was also unaccompanied. The car was seized at the scene.
It is now illegal for a Learner driver to be unaccompanied on the road and under new law, car owners who allow Learner drivers to use their cars unaccompanied will face fines of up to €1,000, up to six months in prison, and could have their vehicles seized. The newly-enacted Clancy Amendment of the Road Traffic Act is named after mother and daughter Geraldine and Louise Clancy from Co Cork who were died tragically just before Christmas three years ago following a collision with an unaccompanied Learner driver. https://twitter.com/GardaTraffic/status/1123330378293547008
