A unique four-bedroom home on the Curragh was one of the feature properties in Thursday's edition of the Irish Times, and it's easy to see why.

The large house, based in Foxwood, Blackrath, was designed by Paul Brazil, a well-known architect who has worked on projects in London and Dublin in the past. Set on 4.5 acres of great ground, this home also features landscape gardens, a paddock and a hard-clay tennis court.

Built in 2010, Foxwood is privately positioned behind a high timber fence with beech hedging. Once through the walled entrance gates, a sweeping tree lined avenue leads to the front of the house. The exterior is elegantly designed with wonderful proportions and the house was built entirely to compliment the contour of the site, thus 9 ft high ceilings at entry level and hall and steps to 11ft high ceilings in the kitchen, drawing room and dining room.

The most enjoyable part of the house is the sense of space which has been created by the high ceilings and the plentiful light pouring through the French doors. The simplicity of the layout creates versified space where the reception rooms work together, for both entertaining purposes and for everyday living. There are internal sliding recessed doors between the kitchen / drawing room / dining room ensuring the excellent flow.

A separate detached studio is also another feature of the house, and, with it being 1,400 sq foot in size, it is perfect for a home gym, game room or an office.placeholder image

The master bedroom in the house has a balcony that looks over the Curragh, while two of the other four bedrooms are doubles. The sitting room is covered with an oak floor and features coving, an open French limestone fireplace (fitted for gas), fitted bespoke Seabury hand painted bookshelves with ample storage and designed for TV unit. French doors also lead out onto a patio.

The house is currently on the market for €1.5 million and the sale is being handled through joint agents Savills and Jordan Auctioneers.
