The first major race of the New Year is taking place at Naas Racecourse today.
The Grade 1 fixture, The Lawlor’s Hotel Novice Hurdle is sure to draw thousands of racegoers to the Co Kildare track.
Also featured will be The Hugh Statham Winter Ladies Day when TV3 presenter Glenda Gilson and KildareNow and Kildare Post commercial manager Anna Fortune will be judging the Best Dressed Lady contest.
The winner will bag herself a fabulous Raymond Weil watch worth €2,600, courtesy of Hugh Statham Jewellers in Naas.
KildareNow - which has 1.2 million page views every month and 32,000 Facebook supporters - is the official local media partner for the day.
The day will also include the first running of Naas Town Goes Racing, an initiative created by the racecourse to involve local traders and the business community to embrace the race day.
The Naas track begins its €2.6 million redevelopment in facilities which will see the venue building a feature pavilion and dining facilities (pictured).
