Man caught driving at speed of 154 km per hour is told he is still lucky to have a licence

A man caught driving at a speed of 154km/hr in a 120km zone in a Co Kildare road has been warned that he is lucky to still have his driving licence.
Evidence was given at Naas District Court today by Garda Deirdre Barry how on October 10, 2015, at 10.20am at Blackrock, Co Kildare, the accused was driving a BMW 5 Series.
Garda Barry outlined how a fixed charge penalty notice was issued to the accused.
She said that there was no heavy traffic and that road conditions were dry.
Defence Solicitor David Powderly said: "The fixed penalty notice was not paid as he had changed address."
Defence outlined how the plasterer requires his licence and that he has three children which he gets access to.
Judge Desmond Zaidan said: "It is a dangerous speed. If someoneelse came across your path or if there was a blowout."
Judge Zaidan fined the accused €600 and gave him six months to pay.
