Mayur Naas an Indian feast for every palette

Dining at Mayur Indian Restaurant in Naas is always a tasty and enjoyable experience.

Located on the Dublin Road (over Boots in Naas), my boyfriend and I had the pleasure recently of dining at the renowned restaurant in beautiful, cultural surroundings.

There is a wonderful, relaxed ambiance, with helpful, efficient and friendly staff.

The food is amazing, such succulent and mouthwatering flavours. At Mayur, India’s top class cuisine has been brought to Naas.

For starters we had a mixed meal platter for two. This is a great way to fully appreciate the tastes of Tandoori cooking with an assortment of truly delicious chicken and lamb dishes.

Next up was the main course.

My boyfriend had the Chicken Madras. This is for the more spicy palette. The chicken was hot and spicy, the aromas and flavours could all be tasted. There was a great balance, a real taste of India.

The Madras curry from the Southern Coast of India is cooked with fresh coconut and curry leaves. So gorgeous, such a beautiful dish.

I had the slow braised lamb chunks cooked with coconut and tarmarind, finished with mustard seeds and curry leaves.

The meals were accompanied by plain naan, which is leavened Indian bread with nigella seeds.

Pilau rice also accompanied our meals, which is a fluffy aromatic basmati rice cooked in saffron flavour.

Also we had delicious chips.

Dining at Mayur is always a feast for the senses, I look forward to tasting each and everyone of their dishes.

So far I have had the pleasure of Prawn Moilee which is black tiger prawns simmered in turmeric coconut sauce.

Additionally I have had the good fortune to taste Mayur’s Chicken Lababdar. This contains spinach, cheese, pineapple, onion, raisins and almond stuffed chicken supreme cooked in a mild creamy saffron sauce.

Also the Chicken Jalfrezi is an excellent dish. This is rich in spices, not as hot as the Madras, the stir-fry compliments the meat. It comes in a choice of meats stir-fried with onions, peppers and tomatoes, flavoured with carom seeds and fresh lime.

Other dishes that come highly recommended are Parsi Duck and Goan Sea-Food Curry, a real taste of  Western Indian traditional cuisine.

The Parsi Duck is female barberry duck breast roasted in chargrilled tandoor and cooked with green vegetables, sweet and sour tangy onion sauce.

Of course, Mayur also more than caters for  vegetarians. There are many options available for people with dietary requirements, including Coeliacs.

Of course, the desserts are last, but not least. We had Lemon Sorbet along with an assortment of ice-creams, just delicious. The desserts had mint leaves enhancing the flavours and good for digestion.

Overall, I will as always give Mayur 10/10 because their food is just divine.

Manager Ajay Parsad runs an efficient, friendly and professional restaurant.
