A Meath man living in Australia has been jailed after being caught supplying cocaine to the local party scene down under.

37-year-old Stephen Donnelly was arrested in October 2017 after he and UK national Tommy Ransley paid a French glamour model, Sebastian Ducros, to pick up a package that contained 5,000 ecstasy tablets and cocaine worth around €450,000. The Meath native worked as a DJ in the Darwin area.

The two men collected the package and travelled to Darwin where they left it in a storage shed. The drugs travelled from Europe to Australia, local police have said.

Mr Donnelly was sentenced to six years and nine months at the Supreme Court in Darwin yesterday.

"I totally accept I am an absolute idiot," he said whilst speaking to the court. Mr Ransley was sentenced to six years in jail and Mr Ducros is to be released from jail and deported in October.
