Monasterevin Day Care design plan is expected before Christmas
By Louise McCarthy 23:48 Tuesday 14th of November 2017

Following a Parliamentary Question today, it is revealed that a design team has been appointed to refurbish Monasterevin Day Care Centre.

The Parliamentary  response to a question by Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley said:"The Design work is expected to be finalised by the end of 2017 and the project will progress with a planning application expected to be made by the first quarter of 2018. The capital plan for 2018 is currently being prepared and the availability of funding for this project will be determined as part of the capital planning process."

The centre was closed in 2014 leaving staff and service users in limbo. The temporary centre closed for a few weeks recently but has reopened.

The centre, which is run by volunteers, provides  hot meals, chiropodist services and crafts and recreation services for elderly people in the area on a weekly basis.
