Multi-million euro revamp of St Conleth's Park gets green light from Council

Kildare GAA has confirmed that Kildare County Council has granted planning permission for the re-development of St Conleth's Park in Newbridge.
The project includes a new 2,600 all-seater stand and is expected to increase capacity to around 15,000 upon completion - an increase from the current 8,200.
The venue staged two home championship matches for Kildare this summer against Mayo in the qualifiers which resulted in a famous victory for the Lilywhites.
Kildare were forced to fight a GAA decision to move the Mayo game.
Kildare also played Galway in the Super 8s series.
Kildare and the GAA were locked in a heated row when the Central Competitions Control Committee scheduled their round-three qualifier tie with Mayo as part of a double-header with Cavan and Tyrone at Croke Park.
Kildare insisted that the home advantage the draw provided them had been taken away without their consent and eventually won the right to play the game in Newbridge.
Only 8,200 spectators were able to attend the game due to health and safety restrictions on the ground in its current condition.
