A murder investigation is under way after the body of a 14-year-old girl was found in a disused farmhouse in Dublin yesterday afternoon.
The body of Anastasia Kriegel from Leixlip was discovered by a garda search team 1km from where she was last seen on Monday at St Catherine's Park in Lucan.
Post-mortem results due today are expected to show the teenager was the victim of a violent assault, RTE.ie reports.
Floral tributes were last night left at the derelict house on the Clonee Road just outside Lucan where the discovery was made.
Anastasia had been missing since Monday and was last seen alive St Catherine's Park at around 5.30pm that evening.
The post-mortem examination was carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy last night.
Superintendent John Gordon, who is leading the investigation, said they believe Anastasia may not have been alone at the time she went missing and are now trying to identify and speak to those people who last saw her.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
The scene at Clonee Road remains sealed off as the forensic examination continues.
