A teenager who ended up in a prison cell on his Debs night got fined at Naas District Court.
The 19-year-old with an address in Kells, Co Meath, was charged with being drunk in a public place, at John Devoy Road, Naas, on August 15, 2017.
Sgt Jim Kelly told the court how the teenager was 'very unsteady on his feet' and that 'he was arrested for his own safety.'
Evidence was given that the accused had no previous convictions.
Defence Solicitor Timmy Kennelly said that the accused had been on his Debs night and that all had not ended well with the young lady who he attended the Debs with.
Judge Desmond Zaidan said: "What a way to spend a Debs night, in a cell."
Sgt Kelly told the court how the accused had been issued with an €80 fine but had not paid it.
Defence said that the accused says he did not receive the fine.
Judge Zaidan convicted and fined the accused €100.
