Naas Court hears woman approaching other females in bars facing a number of charges

A young woman has appeared before Naas District Court in connection to befriending strange females at bars in Athy and then stealing property from them.

The 21-year-old woman with an Athy address, originally from Spain, is facing a charge of theft at Winkles, Leinster St, Athy, on February 1, 2019.

She is facing a €2 theft charge from Winkles.

The accused is also facing a Section 13 charge for failing to appear before Athy District Court on September 11, 2018.

She is also facing a charge of stealing €10.80 from Winkles, Leinster St, Athy.

On December 6, 2018, she is also charged with the theft of an i phone at C.I. Bar, Athy.

She is also facing a Section 4  charge of theft at Castle Inn, Athy, on February 10, 2o19.

The accused is facing a charge of stealing a black Samsung A7, to the value of €300.

On February 5, 2018, she is accused of stealing €150 from a visa debit card.

Garda evidence said: "She would strike up a rapport with females in bars."

The court heard how she went to the bars alone.

Defence Solicitor, Conal Boyce, told the court how the accused has a history of mental illness.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said: "It is a serious case but also tragic, she is vulnerable."

He ordered that a Probation/ Psychiatric  Report is provided on April 9, next.
