Naas District Court hears that Athy murder case involves over 200 statements

A 22-year-old Athy man appeared before Naas District Court again facing a murder charge.

Calvin Cullen, Greenhills, Athy, is charged with murdering David Boland  on November 1, 2018, at Duke St, Athy.

Sgt Brian Jacob said the state is still awaiting DPP directions. He acknowledged that the case has been before Naas District Court a  number of times.

He said: "There are 207 statements. People are working on this full-time. Hopefully the DPP directions will be ready in four weeks."

Defence Barrister said that the charge has been before the courts a number of times,

Judge Desmond Zaidan  said: "I don't want four weeks to become 20 weeks."

Time has been extended for Book of Evidence with the accused due to appear again before Naas District Court on March 14, next.
