Nugent's of Naas has closed its doors in recent days.
A reader contacted KildareNow to confirm that the premises had been closed since the New Year.
The sign has been removed from over the shop front and the windows are covered.
The business on the Sallins Road opened in February last year.
The popular eat-in and take-out outlet had built up a strong customer base for its fresh food counter and shop.
It also sold prepared soups, ready-to-eat dishes, bread, freshly made sandwiches and pastries.
Some local traders claim that independent retailers on the streets of Naas find it difficult to compete against chain coffee shops and out-of-town retail parks.
Shoppers also often complain about the lack of convenient parking in the town.
