Income limits should rise in line with house values

People are not qualifying for social homes in Kildare because the income limits are too low.

Four Labour Party councillors want Kildare county Council to acknowledge “that the income limits for the social housing list in Kildare need to be increased.”

They say this because the average house price for a 3-bedroom semi detached home in the county is now over €420,000.

They also say the average cost of rent for a 3-bedroom semi detached house is €2,382 per month and “there is a large number of people being excluded from obtaining housing. “

The say these people don’t quality for social housing, affordable housings schemes, mortgages or can’t afford to meet rental costs They want KCC to seek an immediate increase in the income limits.
