Kildare residents need more money to maintain public areas

Kildare Council Council urged to pay more because of inflation
Residents groups would be given more funding by Kildare County Council to maintain their estates.
Independent councillor Seamie Moore said allocations must be “reviewed upwards” because of inflation.
He also said there has been an increase in the number of residential areas in Naas and the surrounding area and yet the residents associations have to “share the same overall annual funding allocation.”
Cllr Moore also pointed out that support for some residential projects and environmental improvements has been taken away along with funding for tree pruning, annual children’s games-day, rubbish removal skips and insurance support.
He also said that only €40,000 per annum is given out to the groups in the Naas area and this hasn't changed in some years - while inflation has been at 30% over the same period.
