The woman claimed she received verbal abuse, texts messages and phone calls

A woman told Naas District Court her husband hit her and she hit him back.

She was in court seeking protection.

She said they had been together for some 30 years and she got a protection order last year.

She told the court he also lives in the family home and she withdrew the protection order "because it was upsetting."

She said a family member of the man also got involved.

The woman alleged she had received verbal abuse, text messages and phone calls.

She said on one occasion he hit her, she hit him back and “it just escalated.”

Judge Desmond Zaidan granted her an interim protection order and put the case back to March 8. He advised her to contact the gardaí if she had concerns for her safety prior to that date.

The man was not present or represented.
