Popular Kildare supermarket has been knocked to the ground

It’s been demolished to make way for a bigger store
The Lidl store in Naas has been completely demolished.
The building has been knocked to the ground to make way for a new supermarket.
The project will result in a part single storey, part two storey foodstore occupying 2,572 square metres - replacing the existing entity which had 1,720 square metres of floor space.
The site layout and car parking will be reconfigured.
The existing access for vehicles will be reorganised for delivery purposes and a new main access for motorists will be created from the road which also serves the Naas Retail Park.
Also planned is a new pedestrian access point from Newbridge Road, replacing the existing one.
There will also be new signage, a free standing trolley bay and enclosure as well as a refrigeration and air conditioning plant and equipment and an electricity sub-station.
There are also plans for public lighting, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, roof mounted solar panels, cycle parking as well as changes to the existing drainage, utility and services infrastructure and connections.
The new store is scheduled to open later this year.
