Investigations are continuing
A MAN who sustained serious injuries following a serious assault earlier this month has died, gardai have confirmed.
The man, whose aged in his 70s, was taken to hospital following the violent incident which occurred at Derrybeg, County Donegal last Sunday morning.
In an update, issued this Wednesday lunchtime, gardai say the man was pronounced deceased at Letterkenny University Hospital late on Monday evening.
They have also confirmed that a man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and detained following the incident - but before the pensioner died.
He was charged and appeared before Letterkenny District Court on Monday.
Investigations into the assault are continuing.
