Ireland may battle ANOTHER storm this weekend as Storm Henk rears its head

A popular Irish weather channel is warning the public of a potential storm this coming weekend.

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather made the prediction early this morning (December 27), however he suggested it "might peak" before hitting Ireland.

It comes as Ireland is wracked with Status Yellow and Orange warnings due to the ongoing Storm Gerrit.

Currently a Status Yellow wind and rain warning is in place for the whole country (valid until midnight on Thursday December 28), with a Status Orange wind alert for Clare and Galway, and rainfall warning for Kerry and West Cork.

According to Met Éireann, heavy showers nationwide may lead to localised flooding across counties today.

Carlow Weather earlier reported gusts of 77km/h this morning and 27mm of rain in 24 hours.

In a post published on X (formerly Twitter), the channel stated, "A very rough morning but winds easing a little before picking up again this evening and also once again Thursday morning! More heavy showers today with risk of thunder."

Severe Weather Europe also reports news of a "bomb cyclone" set to hit Ireland and the UK this weekend, with the channel predicting a move across western Europe on Saturday morning.

The new storm will be called Henk as per the list of storm names previously released by Met Éireann, along with the national weather services of the UK (Met Office) and the Netherlands (KNMI).
