Over half a million euro worth of drugs suspected to be cannabis herb have been seized in two counties.
According to Gardaí, an estimated €300,000 worth of cannabis was seized by officers in Co Cork following the search of a vehicle in Mallow yesterday afternoon (Friday February 23), with follow-up searches carried out by the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit in Balysheedy leading to the seizure of cannabis valued at €240,000.
A man aged in his 30s was arrested by Gardaí in connection with the seizure and has since been charged.
All of the drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis.
The arrested man is due to appear before a special sitting of Cork City District Court this evening (Saturday February 24) at 5pm.
