The Dublin-based garda is due to appear before Dublin District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice
A second Dublin-based garda has been charged with criminal offences arising from a major 'corruption' investigation which has been ongoing for several months.
A particular garda unit based in the Dublin Region is at the centre of the investigation which is being carried out by members of the Garda Anti-Corruption Unit.
In an update - issued this Tuesday morning - a garda spokesperson confirmed a second member of the force is due to appear before Dublin District Court after they were arrested and charged.
Previously, it was confirmed that four members of An Garda Síochána have been suspended from duty since the investigation was launched.
Another serving garda - Mark Duffy - appeared in court last week after he was charged with a number of offences which are alleged to have happened on dates during 2021.
The 39-year-old's case is to proceed on indictment before the circuit court and the matter was adjourned to a date in May following last week's procedural hearing.
Gardai say they will not be making any public comments about the matter as the investigation is ongoing and court proceedings have commenced.
