Hundreds of drivers are due to get refunds after being overcharged for their motor insurance by Axa.
The overcharging error is understood to go back a number of years and relates to the failure of Axa Insurance to recognise no-claims bonuses for policy-holders.
AXA confirmed that approximately 400 of its customers had been affected.
The company said it was due to a "historical systems-based error", which was discovered in February of this year.
Customers are understood to have received letters alerting them of the overcharging and confirming that they are due a refund.
It is believed the average refund amount is €163.
“Axa is fully focused on our customers and takes such matters incredibly seriously. We are fully committed to resolving any issue impacting our customers – we apologise, fix the issue and repay and compensate the customer as quickly as we can,” the insurance company said.
