Flight from popular holiday spot diverts to Cork Airport after 'Mayday' distress signal

A flight was diverted to Cork Airport this Wednesday following a 'Mayday' distress signal.

According to Shaun's Aviation on X, the Tenerife to Glasgow flight, EXS24NX/LS176 , operated by Jet2 airline, made an unscheduled landing to the Irish airport.

Upon its arrival, it was suggested that the aircraft may remain in Cork overnight, as no onwards departure was scheduled.

The reason for the signal has not been disclosed by the daa at this time, and no update has been made at time of publication as to the outcome for passengers.
