A new gift card has been launched by Naas traders to encourage shoppers to support local businesses.
The launch was attended by Mayor Robbie Power, Tadhg Beirne (Rugby Player) Alannah Beirne (Model), Brenda Hyland-Beirne (Former Rose of Tralee), James Lawless TD, Frank O'Rourke TD, Sonya Kavanagh (Director of Services Kildare CoCo) Jacqui McNabb (Head of Enterprise Kildare Local Enterprise Office) participating Retailers, County Council Officials, the Naas Regeneration Group and the EU URBACT Town Team.
The Naas me2you gift cards range in value from €15 to €500 and are available to purchase from a selection of convenient locations including Barker & Jones, Maxol Dublin Road, Swans on the Green, Rushes SuperValu and Centra Hazelmere.
The Naas Volunteer groups joined forces with the me2you gift card Company to create a Naas Gift Card.
The partnership with a provincial town is the first of it’s kind in Ireland for me2you. The Naas me2you gift card also gives employers a tax free way to reward members of staff as the total bonus does not exceed €500 in given year tax.
Alice Fennelly from the EU URBACT Naas Retail Development Group said ‘We are delighted to get this scheme off the ground. This initiative helps highlight the calibre and choice of retail and restaurants in Naas.
"The term ‘NAAS WORKING TOGETHER’ really describes how well all the various parties have come together on this project to secure the prosperity and vibrancy of our lovely town. The Naas Gift Card is truly WIN WIN for all concerned.’
Robin Skelton from the Naas Regeneration Group commented at the launch ‘This is one more step towards establishing Naas as the shopping experience we know it can be. Our main objective now is to get as many Naas me2you gift cards circulating as possible. We are urging local employers to switch from other gift cards to the Naas me2you gift card and for the public to choose the Naas me2you gift card for friends and family this Christmas.
For shoppers, the Naas me2you gift card offers an unrivalled choice of everything from everyday essentials to luxury products and services including grocery, pharmacy, restaurants, ladies and mens fashion, coffee shops, opticians, hair, beauty, photography, homeware, books, stationery and more. The initiative is backed by 62 (and growing!) businesses in the town.
