Newbridge female Garda reports being kicked in stomach during course of duty

A Newbridge Garda has been advised by a Naas Judge that she is entitled to provide a victim impact statement after allegations that she sustained kicks to the stomach during the course of her duty.

A 32-year-old woman appeared before Naas District Court on Thursday charged with assaulting a female Garda, on June 13, 2018, in Newbridge.

Also she is facing a charge of Section 4 theft at Penneys Newbridge, on May 16, 2018.

Garda evidence outlined how the accused was 'intoxicated and volatile'.

An altercation took place and the accused kicked out at the female Garda.

The court heard how the injuries were minor.

Judge Desmond Zaidan ordered that the accused return before Naas District Court on February 28, next,  for DPP directions and a medical report.

She was granted bail on condition that she sign on three times a week at Newbridge Garda Station,
