Newbridge Kildare Lions Club make touching appeal to help financially burdened families this Christmas

Newbridge Kildare Lions Club has launched its Christmas Toy Appeal to help less fortunate families. This is the sixth year such an appeal has been organised locally by the club and the aim is to make Christmas the special occasion it should be for as many children as possible regardless of the financial constraints placed on many families in the current economic climate.
Thank you to everybody who has been so generous to us in the past. This year we make a very special appeal to the Credit Union customers who so loyally supported us in the past to continue to do so by dropping a toy into any of the four banks in Newbridge, Bank of Ireland Kildare or Kildare Credit Union.
All toys collected will be donated to Family Resource Centres in Newbridge, Kildare and the Curragh and will, in turn, be passed on to deserving families in each of the three areas this Christmas. There will be four collection points in Newbridge – AIB, Bank of Ireland, Permanent TSB and Ulster Bank along with two separate collection points in Kildare town – Bank of Ireland and Kildare Credit Union.
“This initiative is aimed at helping needy families in each of the three local areas this Christmas. We are not seeking financial donations but instead we are asking people to drop a NEW toy into any one of the collection boxes”, said John Casserly, Newbridge Kildare Lions Club. “Some families are really feeling the effects of the current economic situation and we hope, through this appeal, to make this a special and joyous Christmas for as many children as possible in the Newbridge, Kildare and Curragh areas”.
The Newbridge Kildare Lions Club Christmas Toy Appeal takes place from Monday November 16th to Friday December 11th inclusive.
