Kildare County Council has confirmed that some works will also take place on the southbound carriageway.

Subject to favourable weather conditions, the next section of M7 eastbound traffic will commence movement onto the new carriageway surface, adjacent to the new central median, from 06.00 hrs Monday 14 January 2019.

This section will commence approx. 2.5km in advance of Junction 9 and continue for 2 km following on from the previously switched section. This first stage will involve splitting traffic as previously to create an island site in order to complete the new permanent Lane 2.

Two lanes will be maintained during peak hours of 06.00hrs to 22.00hrs at all times.

Once traffic has been moved across, works will continue to the adjacent verge/hard shoulder areas, which will include for the tie-in of new slip lanes.

Meanwhile, from Wednesday 16 January, a contra-flow system will be in operation at this location affecting traffic in both directions until further notice.
These works are necessary to facilitate the upgrade and partial realignment of the R445 at this location.
