An Post presented national awards to winners of 2019 Scéal Eile creative writing competition, including one secondary school winner Aisling Byrne from Kilcock.

The challenge for schools around the country is rooted in primary and secondary children’s love of books and is part of the An Post Education Awards.

This year’s competition asked students to twist the tale of their favourite book, as a fun way to promote literacy and learning for Irish students.

An Post’s Tómas Brien, Postmaster at Kilcock Post Office congratulated Aisling Byrne and her family, saying:“With over 30,000 children taking part in the Scéal Eile competition it is a huge achievement for Aisling Byrne, her school, Scoil Dara and her family.

An Post is running this schools’ competition for over 35 years and children from every community in Ireland take part.  Aisling has done Kilcock and Kildare very proud and we congratulate Aisling’s great success.”
