Castletown House in Celbridge  for weekend this June  a one-stop shop for old buildings requiring free advice on  care and repair

Castletown House Celbridge

A weekend of traditional building skills, demonstrations  and  conservation talks  will be taking place at  Castletown House next weekend. 
Anyone interested in period buildings, architectural conservation and traditional building skills are invited to Castletown House on Saturday, June 15  and Sunday, June 16. 
Admission is free. 
There will be over two dozen craftspeople demonstrating key traditional building skills needed for the conservation of old buildings including sash window repairs stained glass and fanlight conservation, stone carving, dry stonewall construction, use of lime based mortars, decorative plasterwork, ironwork, slate roofing,  thatching and furniture restoration to name a few.

There will be a series of interactive talks on old buildings, their history and significance, maintenance and repair and grants available for conservation. There will be a number of children’s craft workshops as part of Kildare County Council Cruinniú Na nÓg 2019 programme.
